Crazy Weather...

*Not long ago, Moscow and San Antonio where at the exact same temperature.
*San Antonio is now 2 degrees colder. Granted it's night time there and we have tons of snow, but still!
*It finally got above freezing today. May not do that again for awhile.
*This is by-far the dirtiest city I have ever been in. Before you get all mad saying that's not weather related, think about it. It is. I now only have one clean pair of pants that isn't cast in permanent mud.
*The cold returns:-9 tomorrow night. Then a high of -7.
*The sun has started to set before 4pm here and it rises well after 8am. This isn't so bad compared to St. Pete where this was the case about a month ago.
*Iris claims that I am like an old man with the amount of weather websites and forecasts that I consult on a daily basis. She might have a point.
*Sonny Rollins rocks. Okay, that really doesn't have anything to do with weather, but I thought I might point that out.

Stupid finals.

And oh yeah, I WILL be living in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Can anyone say "room with a view?"

So I'm sitting here...

and it's about 5pm at the world bank and I'm working on things that aren't so worldly or bankly. I'm doing my stupid Econ paper that's due about 4 hours ago. Then my tummy tells me that it's about to eat itself if it doesn't get some nourishment soon. I see that a pleasant snowfall is beginning and I file>save and bounce out. I decide shaurma is definitely the best way to go. Shaurma is an Anerminian/Georgian burrito as far as I can tell. Alls I knows is it's extra cheap and extra tasty. So I find a pleasant little spot on Novi-Arbat that has tons of coustomers inside. If you've ever travelled extensively abroad, you know this is the best way to tell if you're going to get sick or not - do what the locals do. So any way I'm enjoying my shaurma and half-liter of beer for about $3.50 and I'm people-watching inside the cozy little food stand. Then who do I hear, but none-other than the backstreet boys. Yes, remember about seven years ago the most popular band in the world with the least musicality since four non-blondes? They're back. and apparently they're doing well. I almost about spit out my shaurma, but it was much to tasty to justify such an action. I scarfed down my shaurma, chugged the rest of my beer, and got the hell out-a-there. I was nice enough however to tell the smelly man 'thank you' for the shaurma and he wished me a pleasant journey. Once I was outside in the safety of the lightly falling snow and my D-Pod I was a-okay. I then prooceeded to the nearest Kofe-Hauz where I could find today's copy of The Moscow Times. The poor waitresses were waiting at the front waiting for business as they opened the door for me. I lightly refused their suggestions for a window seat and got my paper and got out of there. Who wants to pay for over-priced imitation American coffee with such great weather out there? No, a shot of esspresso with steaming water is not Kofe-Amerikano! Boy, I can't wait for Starbucks to arrive in Moscow! Vot, moi uzhin.

The picture is of a "california kitchen" in St. Pete that advertises takos, burritos, and nachos. Yummy.

Finally!

So leave it to me to get back from one trip and just barely put up the pics from the last one. Hopefully blogger takes the pics this time from Istanbul.

Just got back from St. Pete. No energy. At all. So I'm gonna go work out. Just had a great weekend. Paying for it now.

St. Pete details soon.

Istanbul is filled with these spires. They tell people to pray at different points in the day. I kinda expected for everyone to stop what they were doing, pull a rug out of their back pocket and start praying. Not so much. I can't say I wasn't a little dissapointed.
